What the hell just happened?

You might remember me as the guy doing the case mod. Well that project is still on the back burner, probably indefinately now after this morning.

Here's what happened.

I wake up for some Sims action while my wife is in the shower.
I turn on the power switch in the back. Red light comes on.
I push the power button. It goes dark.

I've unplugged everything, put it all back in. No luck.

I brought it back into work and put in a new reset/eject cable I bought a while back and the damn thing still REFUSES to power up! I can't even get the red light anymore!

It's a v4 no-gap with a DMS3. Did the chip or the board fry? I checked the power supply and it's still feeding a good 12.4 volts to the PS2 board so it's definately not that.

Anyone got any ideas?

Hmm... The only fuse I found is the one on the power supply and it's just fine. K, well I guess the mobo is blown.

There is some fuses (surfacemounted) on the mobo too. Quite small black ones. In writing moment I don't know what they are marked with but I'm pretty sure there is someone on this forum that gladly help you find them..

Hope you find it and that you find the source causing it to blow. (If it is a fuse that has blown)

warranty left after your modifications...

Okay I'm going to assume you mean this fuse.
http://www.richspsxparts.com/fuse.html

Since I didn't feel like pulling it off just to test it I get a steady .15 going either through the fuse or the board. Not sure :P

Anyway, what I couldn't get the current through was the little resistor next to it. To the left and under the left part of the blue circle in that picture at richs psxparts. I figured there should be at least something. If anyone has a board lying out if you coudl test that for me I'd appreciated it. For reference it has PS1 inked above it on the board.

There is more fuses then that one.

Hey, you installers in here, don't you know about these lil buggars and where to find them?

I know Charlie posted a link in the past of the fuses on a V7 board and what circuits they protects but that link is dead..

Alright Here we go.

UPDATE!
The only freakin fuse that doesn't pass any tests is the one next to the label "PS1". Unfortunately, it isn't even close to the size of any other fuse on the board.
It's about the size of a grain of pepper and has ED printed on it. Anyone know where to get a replacement? All the online parts places just have the huge bulky ones that say 30 on 'em.

I would first recommend emailing Rich at www.richspsxparts.com this guy has everything and at great prices with free shipping most of the time. If its not listed on his page I'm sure he still has it available.

But if that doesn’t work try this.

http://tomekswholesale.zoovy.com/product/PS21AMPFUSE

The 1amp fuse is a little larger then what the PS1 fuse is rated at, if I remember right its rated at .4 amps. Also like I said before just cuz the pic looks like the larger ones doesn’t mean that what it is. I have seen what the 1 amp fuses from Tomeks page look like and they look nothing like the pic he shows. They are just a little larger the original PS1 fuse.
