Question Help with V9 PS2 Chipping

I read someware on this forum about a problem with the V9 PS2 but I can't remember what it was or where I saw it. Is it harder to chip. I changed a V3 that I bought used for a new PS2 (the one that comes with the network adapter and game) trying to get a V10 but I got a V9 instead. Can someone help?

just take your time soldering.practice on an old mobo if ya have one laying around.
as far as v9 issues yea there are alot out there with issues but in my mind they are no diffrent than any ps2 matter o fact every ps2 that was released v1-10 has had issues.
so i'm sure someone else here knows the proper site for this fix it before it breaks method.
but when ya mod a ps2 your taking chances anyhow so i would skip the whole v9 fix!

Version 9 is a bit more tricky than the versions 5 to 8 as the solder connections on the underside of the board are no longer to nice big square solder pads but to small coated vias. Does take a little bit longer as you have to very carefully remove the coating from the vias before you can solder onto them.

As for performance, your chipped ps2 will be fine as long as you use good quality media to back up your originals on to. Start using cheap media and you'l start frazzing yr laser.

Regards

Not a good suggestion.

I covered the explanation of the Romeo mod in the ultimate info sticky. Here is the link. http://www.fileforums.com/showthread...threadid=56313

Shadowknyght has a site up with even more details at http://cyber-mag.com/station/laserV9.htm

Scroll half way down and the tutorial for the Romeo mod in the V9/V10 PS2's begins.

Yeah, skipping the Romeo is like conscripting your V9/10 to an early grave
