Xbox Live/Road Runner/Xecuter 2.3b
I've got a 2 week old Xbox, that I installed an Xecuter 2.3b Lite+ in right after purchasing it. I haven't ever been ble to connect to Xbox Live! no matter what I try. First I was using SBC Yahoo! DSL, and after various network setups, I could never get connected. I installed Road Runner cable internet yesterday, and I still can't get connected to Xbox Live!
It goes through the first 3 steps rather quick, but it always fails at the last step and I get "Communiation Error: Xbox Live! could not be found" I know I've never tried to connect with the mod chip turned on, so I don't think it's possible that I've been banned already. Has any one ever had this problem who might help me get this set up. Thx!

Is your XBox hooked up to your router? If so, that may be blocking ports XBL needs to use to connect.

Get a program called "xbox watch (xbwatch)", and see if you can connect to the internet and update the time. If you cannot, then it is your setup. If you can, then it is xbox live. Maybe someone banned the xbox within the 2 weeks before you bought it?

i've figured out the problem, i just don't know the solution.
according to the forum i posted above, it has something to do with the EEPROM. when you try to connect to Xbox Live!, and it fails, you can hit the B button, and then the Y button. it will bring up a screen with some codes on it. there are W, X, Y, and Z lines, each one has an XXXX-XXXX code next to it. as far as Xbox Live! goes, the Y line is what is most important. my Y line is 00C2-0002. the 00C2 specifies that there is a hardware change inside the box, and that is what is preventing me from connecting. it can be 00C1, 00C2, or 00C3...all specifying a hardware change. it should read 00A8. the second part of that line is where you can find out if you've been banned or not. 00A8-6480 is an example of a banned Xbox. the 6 at the start of the second set of numbers means you've been banned. therefore, i know the system hasn't been banned, it just won't connect because i've changed the hard drive, and i didn't backup my original files properly. i need to get an EEPROM from a "non-modded" Xbox, and then put it on my Xbox to get my code to go back to 00A8. the only thing is, i'm not sure if it will stay that way, or once i turn the mod chip off, will it see i have a different HD, and change back to 00C2? nobody seems to know the answers to these questions. i'm going to continue to work on it. if i don't get something figured out before NCAA 2005 and Madden 2005 come out, then i'll just purchase another Xbox.
