stupid messages
hi i just bought a new computer xp installed and looking for some software to remove pop ups. what is happening is this i access the net and a popup keeps coming up every few seconds called messenger service is there anyway to stop this happening without using a general popup stopper as the popup stoppers on my other comuter stops some programs working

1. You need to turn of MESSENGER. It's a service that is set to automatically load with Windows by default. Go to Control Panel>Admin Tools>Services and scroll down to messenger, right click and chose properties. Startup type to disabled.
2. You may have some sort of Spyware/AdWare on your HDD, use tools such as PestPatrol, SpyBot or Hijack http://www.pestpatrol.com http://www.safer-networking.org http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/index.html
