Question Is this possible...?

Hey people,

I was browsing craigslist.com for stuff and came across this...

"I can mod your Xbox AND install your hard drive for only $50! I mod your Xbox WITHOUT THE USE OF A MODCHIP! What I do is FLASH TSOP! No longer will you have to worry about your modchip staying aligned! Play backup games on disc OR on your hard drive! Watch DVDs without the DVD Dongle Kit! All those video and audio clips you download online, you can put them on your xbox and watch them on your TV! It doesn't matter how old your x-box is! I can mod it WITHOUT a chip! If you're interested, just send me an email! Unleash your Xbox!"

... is this on the up-and-up? Modding "WITHOUT THE USE OF A MODCHIP"? I thought about it only because Fry's has refurbished XBOXs for cheap right now and thought it might be my chance.

Thank you much.

yah, it's possible. Just thought you should know that it isn't going to cost him a penny. In fact, your not paying for any new hardware, and this whole thing will take him about 10 minutes to do. Also, your xbox will likely not be able to be used on xbox live again after he mods it.

All he does is bridge 2 points together on the xbox mobo. He flashes the onboard tsop with an exploit that requires an action replay, and oo7 (softmodding) (if you have a modded xbox, all you need is a memcard instead of an action replay). He then uses it to flash your onboard bios with hacked ones.

The dvd without a dvd-kit, is a totally free, homebrew app that runs on the xbox.

and to upgrade the hdd, it takes about 2 minutes..You probably need to supply the HDD though.

oh yah, for $50 you can buy a solder free modchip, can have 2 different bios flashed on it (changed logo color, boot sequences, animation color). Also, the chip will have a disable switch, so you can play on xbox live, when it is turned off.

All those apps for free dvd playing (remoteless, and plays 3/4 of the dvd's you want). You can also get the app that plays all of your media (mpg's, avi's, etc...) for free. It is constantly updating features, so you will likely replace it more than once.

Get a solderless chip install it yourself.
Its possible finding one thats in the $50 dollar range.

He isn't going to supply you with a HD, so either way you'll need to get a new one. Installing it shouldn't take you to long.

The DVD dongle - Is actual an app loaded onto the hard-drive.
As well as other apps. Which are free.

I don't really know if you want to trust someone over the internet with your xbox anyways.

Whats "Frys" I can use another xbox.

Talking Thank you everyone...

Thanks for the information everyone. I really appreciate it. I'm new to the XBOX mod scene. I'll go ahead and read the stickies for all the pertinent information.

Fry's Electronics, I guess is just a west coast (Bay Area) chain of stores. There's frysoutpost.com, but I think the $99 XBoxs were in-store only.

Thanks again.
