the xbox comes with 3 different types of dvd drives Thompson being the worst philips and samsung being the best
you can tell which is which by looking at the cd tray when you eject
thompson (has an arch shape hole) philips has a keyhole shape samsung has a small hole each side of the shaped hole

all xbox games unlike the ps2 are on dvd and there are very few that would even fit on a cd-rw. so you can only copy games to dvd
or to the xbox hd. but if you have a stock xbox hd it should be approx 8-10 gb in size.
