New Mode of Operation found on M2v1.33b

I have found a new mode of operation on Messiah2Pro V1.33b fitted in v9 ps2 consoles.

As well as Playing ps1 cdr, ps2 cdr an ps2 dvd-r/+r there is also a mode called "SULK" mode.

In this mode despite the fact that you've done everything yr meant to the m2 turns into a teamster and won't boot anything.

I am a bit disappointed with this as my v7 with m2pro v1.30 acts just like a normal ps2 without any wierd eject./reset button combinations.

Any sight of M2 v1.34???

oh dear this doesn't sound encouraging....
is it possible the M2 was damaged or perhaps it was faulty when you recieved it...?

anyone else having problems with M2 v1.33b in a v9 ??

i heard some talk about the v9's and M2's killing a system something called EEPROM they talk alot about it on ps2newz wonder if that could ur ur problem

nah, most of the time it works okay but have been spoilt with version 7 and m2 1.30. That works just like a standard ps2 but version 9, u need to switch on by hitting eject then close tray by hitting reset. This works 95% of the time but every so often it sulks.

Also the time difference between putting into ps1 mode and sputting chip into sleep mode ( holding eject longer) seems to have been reduced so its a bit hit n miss whether u get one mode or the other.

Havin said that, still looks better in my front room than a black ps2

yeah i will have me a v9 did soon with a smart chip im just waiting for it to be returned from the installer i just hope it works good and no reset boot just pop the game in and play that would be nice

Messiah2 v1.33b works by just popping the disk in and closing the tray.

Inconvenience may arise when switching mode because the Eject button causes the tray to open. It would be a good idea to move off these buttons in a future Messiah2 release.

I've got the v9 sitting right here next to me and consistently every time it boots DVD-R games off Eject open/Eject close. The only time it doesn't is when you change game in mid-game. Then you have to hit Reset.

As you know, the placement of the RST line on Eject is necessitated only if you want to turn the Messiah2 off. If you neverwant to do that (but I doubt that's the case) you can put the wire on Reset - it will then detect PS1 mode if you hold it down till the Eject lamp comes on.

So r u sayin that I can change the eject solder to the reset an use it as a ps1/ps2 machine without sleep mode m8ee?

And what is the correct boot method for ps2 cdr/dvd-r on a version 9 with M2 v1.33b. I use eject to turn ps2 on an open tray then tap reset to close tray an boot. This works 90% of the time but throws a wobbly every so often.

It is certainly a dissapointment compared to my version 7 with messiah 2 1.30.

i didnt think u could switch games in middle of a game when i opened my apple system while playing it froze up and i had to hit reset

Charlie's response: Should work 100%. Also if you hit Eject to close the tray.

Charlie's response: Sorry about that. On the PS2 v9 I have here I have no difficulty and 100% boot success rate with either method.

That is correct so fara as Messiah2 goes. You have to boot with Reset.

there's only one answer here kick the m2 chip out and get yourself a DMS there more bugs in a m2 then in windows so why do you punish yourself so much I know it call messiah but beating your self ain't funny
