Red face quick safedisk Q regarding decrypting exe file

I must probably sound like a total noob, but here is my question.

At the moment I am trying to unsafedisk a safedisk protected game, using unsafedisk 1.5.5 on safedisk 1.45.011 (It’s an old game, shogun total war 1.12).

dplayerx.dll is 176.128bytes

I started the utility a while ago (2 hours).

How long does it take to finish unsafedisking?

Its taking a long time is that normal?

It seems like its suck and repeating codes...

Thanks

Really appreciate a reply

Use Alcohol 120% and Alcoholer. Also, download ClonyXXL (if you haven't already done so.)

trying to decrypt file.

what I am trying to do is decrypt the Shogun Total War (STW) exe myself, so that I can use my backed up copy.

I have already backedup the disc and since my burner is very old it cant make an 1:1 copy (and I cant get stuffed doing it again). Ive tried the gamepatches around on the net, but I seem to get same error all the time and the game freezes up at the same stage of the game every time. (from error log - E:\shogun\Main3d_1.cpp(3787) : DirectX call : E_NOTIMPL (UNSUPPORTED))

Therefore I cant use any of these progs (correct me if Im wrong):

Alcohol 120% = discopyprog
Alcoholer = discopyprog (havn't used this one myself yet)
Cloney = protection detector

And I sort of wanted to make my own crack...
thanks for the suggestion.

But my question still stands. how long does it normally take to decrypt safedisk 1.45.011?

It has been going all day. Dunno if its just repeating itself.

plz help

I have never used UnSafeDisk. So I can't help you there, sorry!
Also, Alcoholer is a "Add-on" for Alcohol 120%. Use it in conjunction with Clony XXL to burn your game.

The decryption should take just a few seconds, that error you got seems to be comething with your DirectX...What version do you have and what OS?

hehe, the decryption has been going the whole day... 10 hours, maybe its time to turn it off.. should I turn it off??

I have been checking various forums regarding the STW error, many ppl seem to have similar problem, but there has only been a few suggestions on how to fix it, which has apparently only fixed it for somebody (not including me).

Some of the fixes included updating the windows media player.
I have on the otherhand installed realtime+quicktime alternative players which include an old version of WinMediaPlayer. But I dunno if or which of its drivers might interfere.

My specs:

WinXP pro (with latest updates)
DirectX9b (latest)
Shogun total war with 1.12 update (safedisc 1.45.011)
Radeon 9100 (tried all different drivers)
SB Live value (latest drivers+tried different ones)

thanks for the reply

Did you create a sys restore point for Pre-DX9b? If u did use it that might help you. it looks like dx is trying to load something off of the game or some sort and it runs into unsafedisk which it does not know what to do with. (hence the "unsupported" error)

There might be programs out there that can uninstall DX9b for you but, Microsoft says that there is no way to uninstall DX9b once you install it without a sys restore point sorry m8

With win 98se it's quite easy to set back directx.
just reinstall win. You will then have all original win settings and directx will be set back to I believe version 6.
after this reinstall any directx you like.

You can do this but, I would not recommend it, you will have to reinstall EVERY thing that you want to your HD. Just make sure to make backups of anything you can't ever get again on CDs. If you everything on your HD is not need or you can get it back easy then go for it. Reinstall windows, then get the latest updates and create a sys restore point before reinstalling DX9b.

Talking

Thanks for all the suggestions, but the error I was getting during the STW game has been solved now. It was something to do with wierd codex in the mp3's from the game. If anybody is interrested in how fixing this issue is done : http://pub133.ezboard.com/fshoguntot...cID=2454.topic

So it looks like I dont have to do anything to my DX

cheers
