You won't be happy with no solder mods. They are garbage, espicially when you can get an excellent chip for $20. Not sure where you are located, but if you are in the US/CAN you can check your version here If you have a scph-5000x it is a v9.

If you are a novice I wouldn't do it. There are plenty on UK chippers here that would install it for you.

39003 = ps2 v7. take bighaps advice, get someone else to chip it because you'll only end up trashing it
I used to chip ps1's but chipping the ps2 is a different ball game...

that v9 u got bob in your signature will be safe if chipped by me

read latest over at ps2newz,the problems aint m2 related,

its such a small amunt dying which ever type chip is used
bad installs possibly or not put together 100% ie overheating

or maybe a bad batch of components on certain batch of ps2

there a thread now about retail shop ,out of 100 consoles v9 10 returned already with viod stickers intact, either someone has replaced viod stickers or these died naturally

leave your ps2 on for a day playing,if it blows send back to sony, leave it playing dvdr game when u not actually playing it,it still under warranty and unopened

if it passes that send it here ,i retest for 1 day before opening ,ther be np with it

£60 for v5-v7 v4 or v9 £70 install plus chip (m2pro 1.33b) norwich
or postage i got new service coming picked up from your house/work next day, chiped and returned next day service again £20 thats a £10 each way
order monday, console picked up tuesday, delivered to me wed,i pop it back into post to u thurs,it will be with u friday

ps sorry mods this turned into an advertisement, to make it fair qoute fileforums when ordering ,if not these prices are likely to change

whleaving the ps2 playing dvdr media is best to stress the laser
dvdr movie while u are able to restart it(not as good as game backup but its not modded yet) movie just streamed through the movie,a game searches loads searches loads so on

dvd game when u at work/sleep one that has alot of drive activity while demo plays is best

is there an external mod chip for the version 7 ps2, prefrebly a direct boot one which requires no disc swap or anything. or maybe a no solder chip.

dont WASTE money on that crap, contact dust and get a REAL modchip. By the time you buy Swap magic disc along with a no-solder you will be spent almost enough to pay for the chip + install.
