Which modchip are straineous on the lens?

I heard Magic & Apple modchips will kill your lens faster. Is this true? Can charlie_ps2 help to list all modchips with direct-boot? This will help a lot. Thanks.

Also I just bought my new PS2 SCPH-39006 NTSC/J with direct boot. I doubt that my modchip is a Messiah 2 Pro. So how do I identify what modchip I have inside without opening my system and void the shop's warranty.

It boots all PS2 games (DVD5/9, CD) at the browser without pressing RESET. Boots DVD movies and PS games by putting the disc in the system first, turn off and hold RESET until it powers up to boot. Also, AR2 doesn't boot any games with/without codes for DVD medium. ARMAX does function but not reliably.

Magic and Apple chips do NOT hurt your laser....

Rule of thumb: If it has the word NEO in it, it will kill your laser....

Since you specified that you would like Charlie_PS2 to list the direct boot chips, I will not go there... (Wouldn't want to STEP on his toes or have a different OPINION)

One thing I would rec. is to call the shop that you bought your PS2 from..... Ask them what chip is in it..... If you don't trust what they tell you, then why would you buy from them in the first place...?

Just to try and clear up things.... What DVD-9 games have you booted with you new PS2?

It would certainly help those other posts requesting the same subject.

I only have tried booting a single DVD9... namely Sakura Taisen. I only got to try it at the shop. I don't own any DVD9 yet. Which are better ones (games) to test my modchip? Xenosaga/Substance/Sakura?

Also, I noticed that my Playstation2 logo doesn't display and my PSX logo displayed fine with color. PS2 games loaded with RESET/push tray/browser. What modchip would it be?

p/s - The shop ppl don't even know what modchip is inside. They said it's already premodded when they receive stock. That's why this forum is usely for guys like us

there is only one chip that i've read about that completely removes the ps2 logo and boots all ps2 backups from browser
smart chip pro AKA blue chip AKA NH8 (trying to confuse people with so many f*ckin names)........ it's probably a magic2/3.x clone with some homebrew code added, thus not completely reliable in booting games behind an AR2.
