Chips and xbox live
i read a couple of forums that said that xbox live would work with a chip and some that said xbox live wouldnt work with a chip so has anyone out there acctually tried this yet or is it all just a big stinking heaping pile of cow dung?
 please let me know and remember i dont want to hear that you heard it from a friends cousins sisters transexual friend ok thanks

It does not work. XBL live does checks on your xbox when you log on. If it finds changes in the kernel or bios, your xbox will be banned (getting a new account will not help you). It may take a day or so, but it will happen. For this reason, people insert an on/off switch on their modchips so they can turn the chip off when they want to "go live". If you hear anyone say that they can go online xbox live with a modchip, they probably mean after they turn it off (when the xbox was off).
Also, turning off your chip after you started a game will not help at all.

Yes backups can be played on xbl if you turn the chip off via a switch after the game has booted up. I have been doing this for around six months, about an hour a week without a hiccup. Here's a forum on a website by the guy who sold me my xbox concerning this:

well, i guess there is a chance you will, and a chance that you won't get banned. Everyone I talk to that has tried has gotten banned. But since officespace reported that he has been doing it for 6 months proves that it can be done. It's all up to you whether you want to take the risk, or not.
In many faqs it says that in rare cases people have been able to get it to work, and not get banned. I simply say you cannot because your chances of not being banned is very, very, low. To me, the most reliable source of information is xbox-scene. So far that i've read, everyone who attempted to go online with a bacup game was banned within the week. also, i have to say officespace67, if it truly works for you then consider yourself lucky. After the bios is loaded, it does not reset to the original until the xbox is resetted or powered off. Having bios with an eject fix on them will prove it.
