Thats because you are using a RGB Cable.
You need to RGB Patch the game so you get a picture with a RGB Cable. Since you don't have the original CDI, ask Megalexx how to fix the game. I'm sure all you will need to do is change a hex string in the 1ST_READ.BIN. |

This one is quite long :
Look for 09 00 09 00 09 00 09 00 09 00 30 88 07 89 Change it by 07 89 32 88 07 89 33 88 07 89 30 88 07 89 Look for 00 E0 00 E0 04 7F 26 4F 0B 00 09 00 Change it by 02 ... Look for 30 E0 02 2E 00 E0 26 4F 0B 00 F6 6E Change it by 4C 84 ... Look for 03 E0 0B 00 09 00 03 D3 03 92 Change it by 09 24 0B 00 43 60 ... But send me your 1st_read.bin here, please : megalexxx********fr |

great
Hi!, same prob 4 me,
Forgive me for being a bit loopy, I'm new to this - I take it to apply the above patch I have to Hex Ed my SF3 3rd Strike 1st_read.bin file and then "inject" it back into the CD image file which I burn... Is there a tool to let me inject the patched file into the image file? Or should I just Hex Ed the whole image file and search for those strings?? Many thanks in advance! Keep it alive guys. -- PS. I ran PAL Patcher 2.0a on my image and it found 50Hz Code, will patching this 50Hz -> 60Hz solve this RGB problem? |

Try to edit the whole image.
Otherwise, you'll have to remake the whole CD. |

Closer
Hi!
Thx for reply, I finally got a good Hex Editor that will let me edit these large image files! Only I have 2 small questions: Q1. When you say.. Look for 09 00 09 00 09 00 09 00 09 00 30 88 07 89 Change it by 07 89 32 88 07 89 33 88 07 89 30 88 07 89 Do you mean change the string TO the lower one? (I'm just slightly confused, because you say Change it BY, which could be a logical operation)..? Q2. When you say.. Look for 00 E0 00 E0 04 7F 26 4F 0B 00 09 00 Change it by 02 ... Do you mean only change the first byte and leave the rest as they are???? Anyway, I gave it a shot and it still will not display as RGB, I have a JAP DC (hunting an early UK PAL system at the mo.) Consequently, when I burned my original NRG using Nero it would not play in the DC (perhaps the burn is not "dark" enough for the DC to read??), so I had to re-read the disc into an image using DJ4 and burn it again at 8x and it worked. Many thanks !! |

In other words, look for the whole string, compare it to the new one and change only what`s necessary (what differs) with your Hex editor. |

Thx xenon2k,
I'm gonna go back an edit my original image and see how it goes I think - I must have messed up my current image I think. btw, a good Hex Editor for doing large files (larger than the amount of physical RAM you have) I've found is Hex Edit 2.5 by Expert Com Soft if anybody else wants a quick editor than can do huge files. Shame about the trial limit tho! hohoMany thanks guys everybody for helping out!!

what am I doing wrong?
Eeek.. me again..
I've tried and failed. (5 coasters later hehe).. I cannot get my SF3 3rd Strike USA Selfboot to work in RGB mode, since I originally got the NRG image, I burned it to CD, I've made a new image in CDI format and I tried to apply those patches above in a Hex Editor to this CDI, which gets burned in DJ4. However, the game still boots in non-RGB mode.. I'm lost. Is it because I have a JAP DC? Has anyone got this game working under RGB? If only I could find the original release CDI and apply the official patch! Anybody want my 1st_read.bin? -o- Double Impact here I come... |

Yes, I got this game to work with RGB cable with the above Hex tweaks.
I think that you probably have a damaged image. Try download it again. |

I've got a Euro DC, with a RGB scart lead.
I don't know if someone managed to have this game work with a RGB scart and a Jap DC... |
