only tool you need to replace the hard drive is a trox...
first back up your c and e drives on your xbox, open it up, take out the old hd, put in your new hd, put the xbox back together, insert an evox disc with the format command on it...simply click format..dump backon your c drive data and e drive and tada, up and running as long as you do it right there is no real harm |

but to do it....first undo the screws under the xbox feet and the silver stickers to take the case off when you do you should be able to see the dvd drive to the left and your hd to the right....look in the middle and there should be a screw, undo that and if i remember correctly the hardrive should become lose, unlpug the power cable and the ide cable on the hd to free it totally from the xbox when you have done this you should find a few more screws on the side of the tray holding the hard drive to its tray, undo them and take out the hd and put in your new 80/120hd. screw it to the case, plug in the power cable and the ide cable and screw back the case to the tray to the xbox now put the xbox case back on and screw it back together when you start your xbox now you should get a screen saying it needs to be serviced turn off your xbox and put in the evox cd with the format command line so when you turn it on it should come up with the evox menu and the command format hd click format hd and wait...when its done ftp to your xbox and dump your c and e drive from your previous xbox hd, simply reboot without the cd in the drive and it should be the way it was before, except with a lot more space, make sure you have the f drive enabled or else you wont be able to use all that free space if you look on this forum you should find a previous topic with the command line to format with evox, if not just say and i'll try and dig it out again |
