to psx2 or not to psx2..that is the question!!!

hi...yes another newbie!!
big question tho...i have a psx..copy and play games..no problem. thinking of getting a psx2 as psx is getting little worn out. what i need to know is....is it worth all the hassle?? ive been reading the posts here and im totally confused!! chips, cables, boot cds?? psx was all so easy.
could smeone tell me exactly what i need to do to the psx2 to play copied games. i use clonecd and cdrwin to copy psx games so im assuming i can do the same for psx2? and i would need a chip too??

any help on this would be greatly appreciated or a link to all the info i need if its buried in here somewhere. sorry if this has been asked before.

If you've read all the posts then I don't need to repeat my advice and guidance for newbies. Yes you're right. PS2 is more or less the same copy realm as PSX. You need a chip. The current market leader is NEO2.2 on http://www.playstationmods.com
