ps2 technical problem,

I have a scph 3000. its japanese and I have a game right now that is acting funny recently.

this problem did not exist before. when my characters attack they are supposed to call the attacks name and taunt the opponent.

what happens is the attack happens but the vocals dont come out. and as the screen changes the game freezes for a bout half a minute but then continues. and as the turn ends... all the vocals come out at once all piled on top of each other.

the game is an original and the ps2 is unmodified.

is the fault in the ps2 or is it a bug in the game? this problem did not exist befor so I suspect its the ps2. do I need a lens cleaner or should I have my ps2 serviced?

Yeah, sounds like a laser issue.

try a head cleaning disc but run it through dry a few times first, if no sucess run it through with alcohol on about 5 times and give it another go.

if still no joy it could be laser replacement time unless you fancy trying to adjust it yourself.
