Vietcong UK version- how do i burn it?

Hi all,

I bought myself the UK version of Vietcong (the uncensored one). Unfortunatly, my clony doesn't want to run anymore (kernel whatever...), so I don't know what kind of copy protection it uses. So how can i manage to burn vietcong? Making a simple image of the game using cloneCD and then burn it back on an emty CD and then applying a crack? Or must I copy it in another way?

G'day esti_the_big,

The protection used is Securom & possibly the latest version as well....which is difficult to copy as a 100% 1:1 working backup......

Unfortunatley, we down here in The Land Of Aus wont get the release till the 30/4/03 so I can not try till then.... However, if you have Alcohol 120% you could select as the datatype ....
"Securom *New(V4.X)"

You could use Clone CD as you say - but also a copy / paste method should work fine as well.

If you go the copy / paste method check to see if your Version is relevant to the Latest Patch now version 1.01 & download it...then grab the latest Crack / Fix & make up a "Patch/Crack" folder in the directory & burn the whole / lot back to a disc........

thx for your answer. I managed to make a img with cloneCD. I just hope it works, I don't want to make stuff with twinpeak or go looking through hexnumbers searching for copy-protection signs... I simply hope that the CloneCD Iso will do it.

@ logicwatch,

The Copy / Paste method is simply as it says.....

Place your Original copy in the drive & explore it (if your on Win XP simply right click the drive & select explore) - you simply select all the items on the disc (with WinXP hold down control & press a) this selects all the items on the disc..after you've selected all the items, right click & select copy ......

You then have to paste these into another directory which you could create & call it say temp.....paste (or drag) the items on the disc into this temp directory.

After the pasting is finished .... you could do as I mentioned above which is download the latest patch & the relevant crack....

When you have finished downloading these simply create another folder in that temp directory called Patch Crack & place them in this folder.

Once all that is done, you're ready to burn it to a backup disc...to do this I use Nero Express (Part of Nero Burning Rom) or any other Burning Program that can record data..... HotBurn Pro is another Old Time Favourite of mine.... CloneCD or BlindrWrite can't....

I trust you have copied data to a disc before ..... well you select all your data in the Temp directory to your burning program & select a write speed...sure you can go up to 52x write but i prefer 8 times - never fails....

However the most important thing is to name the disc (most data burning programs give an option for this ) your copying, to the same name as your original disc.... when you insert the original you will see the name of the disc on your drive letter... again In The Land Of Aus we dont get the game till 30/4/03 so I dont know.... but probably something like VietCong or similar.....

Vietcong is Securom protected so by this method you will NOT make a 1:1 perfect copy..... but you see it doesnt matter... because once you have installed the game...you will explore your disc...go to your patch crack folder..run the patch..then apply the crack..... (Oh as a hint ....always make a backup of the original exe file you are replacing ) just in case any future patches have patcher bugs that check for / require the original exe.....

Hope that helps you in some way......

Report back if you have any mishaps.......

Vietcong

The copy protection for this is Securom 4+
the best way to copy this kind of protection is by using alcohol to create an image file with securom settings and then to burn the image to cd with the rpms option set......
no problemos with my back up so i hope that helps you!!!
