I was just planning to buy the perfect cdrw: 24x10x40, full subchannel read/writing, sd2 copying, ect' and now this happens - 32x recorders appear, a new unbeatable protection shows up. I HATE IT!!!! I ####ING HATE IT!! |

Quoted here for yer convenience :
As our visitors emailed us, a new copy protection called TAGÈS ,found in the "Motoracer 3" game, cannot be defeated with all known CD copiers (CloneCD, CDMate, BlindWrite). As the company explains: "...TAGÈS is not a dongle or an authentication mark on the disk. On the other hand, TAGÈS is neither an encapsulation software nor an encryption algorithm. TAGÈS is not pure hardware, nor is it just software… It is both hardware and software. The TAGÈS protection system leverages two complementary approaches: The first is based on a specific, patented mastering process that is used to physically distinguish the disks and to create a secure zone on the disk where data can be dissimulated. This secure zone can be read by any CD drive, but cannot be reproduced with a CD burner: it is just physically impossible. The second approach makes use of a set of software components implementing the protection strategy and measures. These are based on cryptography techniques (you can see the data, but they appear meaningless unless you are in possession of the right deciphering key), on steganography (essential data are hidden so that you do not even know they exist, let alone where to start searching, unless someone told you), and on a dozen other techniques aimed at giving a hard time to the most gifted hackers, and at making a generic crack virtually impossible. The result? Firstly, a disk protected with TAGÈS™ cannot be cloned, whatever CD burner you use, whatever CD-copy software you can find. Secondly, a disk protected with TAGÈS™ can be copied, and the copy will be functional…up to the point that is tolerated by the publisher. The idea here is to let the holder of an illicit copy have a "taste and smell" of the genuine application, so that he may be tempted to acquire the license by licit means. Thirdly, TAGÈS™ is the only protection system that is totally immune to generic patches. Even if someone succeeded in cracking one title protected with TAGÈS™, all other titles would still be safe..." ------ Looks like just another software security company's bull$hit talk (ie. mine is unbreakable) - lets see if cracks are around the corner

sounds like SafeDisk or SecureRom, nothing new here, they all claimed the same shit in their commercial protections, in the case of the software side of the protection, if the OS can read it, then there is a way in which it can be intercepted ....
"These are based on cryptography techniques (you can see the data, but they appear meaningless unless you are in possession of the right deciphering key)" Obviously its been packed using some encryption, anything that is encrypted via software can be decrypted\unpacked and dumped to a state where it can be worked on and patched accordingly. Ill wager this boastfull protection scheme will be generically cracked within 30 days LOL "There a crack in everything....thats how the light gets in" DC |

Just visit www.cdfreaks.com This new unbeatable protections seems to be a clone version of codemasters FADE( more finished)and as i know FADE haven't a successful crack yet......(patching from original upgrades till 1.30 in OFP, but this doesn't convinces me at all )Future will show what happens with this new "unbeatable" cd-protection.

At the end of the day, the quotes are from the company's "SELL SELL" pages!
Safedisc2 has come the closest to beating cd burners by pushing the boundries of the Orange Book on cdroms. I'm sure it sounds wonderful now, but it'd soon be beaten....they all are. |
