GameShark Issues

I posted a message a bit earlier regarding some problems I was having, thanks to everyone who helped. I am still having problems getting my GameShark v1.8 to boot though. Am I doing something wrong? Everytime I attempt to boot to the GameShark, the system will not recognize the disc. I have heard that with some earlier model PS2s the GS v1.3 and lower have troubles, but I have a 30001 v4 machine that I just purchased a week ago. As I stated in my prior message, I am using a USB external ModCube. Has anyone else been having problems booting this disc?

have u tried gameshark disc in someone elses ps2
sounds like this disk is faulty(it does happen)
take it bac exchange it
