PS2 Mod-Chip Questions (Messiah 2 Pro)

I am thinking about getting a Mod-Chip for my PS2. Most people say that the Messiah 2 Pro is the best one out...

Does anyone know where I can get this chip (original) for a low price?

Is www.GameGizmo.com any good they are selling the Messiah 2 Pro for $60 each.

What's an RGB color fix?

Do you boot the games just like original games? Just turn the PS2 on and put game in? Or do you have to like reset it or do it some special way?

How do you copy the PS2 games? Is there any special settings you have to have enabled like copying PC Games with CloneCD? Or just any way?

Thanks,
ImDonly1

RGB colour fix is a link applied to the motherboard so that an RGB scart lead can be used between the PS2 and the TV.

This improves picture quality but without the link fitted the games come out okay but the DVD Movies come out in green instead of colour which is why you need to apply the link.

Also if u have the link fitted and r using an RGB scart lead u do not need to worry about Pal and NTSC compatibility as your PS2 will display both in full colour using the RGB Lead and Link.

With a messiah 2 Pro fitted PS2 backups work exactly the same as PS2 originals.

For booting up PS1 originals and backups when u switch on the ps2 u hold the reset button in until the blue eject light comes on and then PS1 games will boot, this also applies to DVD Movies.

U can also disable the chip completely by holding the reset button for 5 seconds.

To back-up ps2 games based on cd use CloneCD,CDRWin or BlindWriteSuite and copy them as per any other CD. Always a good idea to read and write th CD's as slow as your patience will allow as this will ensure a good copy. Also it's a better idea to make an image on yr harddrive first and then write to CD rather than do an 'on the fly' copy.

To Backup PS2 dvd's to dvd-r use PrimoDVD2 or RecordNowMax. These two programs are also very good at backing up PS2 cd's as well

Hope this helps.

Good Luck.

So with the Messiah 2 Pro you have to have the RGB link applied or all DVD's (even originals) will be green?

Can you give me a link to where I can have some instructions on how to install the link under a Messiah 2 Pro.

Thanks,
ImDonly1

No, thats not what I said. If you use the playstation 2 with a component RGB scart lead the dvd movies will come out green, unless you have the RGB Colourfix added.

U asked what the RGB colour fix was, thats what it is for.

If u use the normal lead that comes with the PS2 your dvd movies will come out fine whether u have a mesiah 2 fitted or not.

However, the normal lead will not allow both NTSC and PAL games to play in colour on your TV. The RGB scart lead will.

Ok so if I try and run Xenosaga (US,NTSC) on my Messiah Pro 2 Chipped PAL PS2 using the standard cables (Cable which comes with the PS2) are you saying that it will run in Black and white?

On a NTSC Capable TV

No. On an NTSC compatible TV u should have no problem.

The RGB Fix is really for people without an NTSC Compatible TV.

If u mod your PS2 and then stick in an NTSC disc it will come out in black and white in a non NTSC compatible TV.

If u then buy an RGB scart lead your NTSC games will come out in colour but DVD movies will come out in green.

Thats what the RGB fix is for.

As u have an NTSC compatible TV i wouldn't worry about it tooooo much, however u do get a significantly better picture with an RGB scart lead than u do with the one that came with the PS2 so it's worth investing in one and applying the RGB fix anyway.

QUESTION

example: If have NTCS PS2 & TV

If I connect the color fixed point to 3.45V, I will be able to play PAL game in normal colors right?????? now that I have change my PS2 to PAL will I be able to play NTSC games in normal colors?

OR this process will be able to play any game in normal colors regardless of any TV, PS2, or game that I am using.

Your ntsc games will play like normal. Your pal games will also be in color but you will still get a rolling screen with them unless you apply a pal to ntsc patch.
