Ok, I have burnt backups of games before, but I'm new to the DVD world.
Basically I bought a Sony DVD DRU-500ax a few days ago and I'm currently trying to make backups of two of my games to test it. One is Grand Theft Auto and the other is Midnight Run. I am using Recordnow software that came with my burner (actually I also tried the Recordnow max demo that one of the Administrator's posted). The first game, Midnight Run, stops in the middle of reading it, giving me a PX Engine error (Command: BE Sense: 03 ASC:11 ASCQ:05) Reading from the disc. The other game, GTA, seemed to read fine, but when I go to burn it, it also stops and gives me a PX Engine error (a little different though). I have followed the instructions EXACTLY like they were posted on the backup procedures sticky thread. I am using Ritek media, and was burning and reading at the minimum speed. So basically to me, I feel like I have done EVERYTHING right. This is frustrating. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks! |

If your dvd burner isnt set to master, switch it to master.

Well, I did finally get a backup of Grand Theft Auto to burn, but it froze during the startup. I'm not really worried about one game not working, so I tried my copy of NCAA 2k3. Bare in mind these ARE all original games, regarless of what others say.
Basically I cannot get ONE single game to work? Yes my burner is set to master, I build computers so I KNOW my setup is correct. The only one thing I can think of is maybe the DVD writer itself is bad? Should I take it back and get another? My father has the same exact model, and doesn't have any problems, but he rips and burns DVD's, not PS2 games. When I did get GTA to at least read and burn, I used Nero. Recordnow Max, keeps giving me the same darn error. Px Engine error or something. Nero at least made it through, but still didn't get a good copy that worked. Both programs however, do not work with NCAA 2k3. This is very frustrating. I've already put so much darn time into this, and I know in the end it's going to be something dumb. Anymore suggestions? Help? thanks! |
