AOE 2 has Safedisc 2.30.010 copy protection. It should be no problem with ccd 4 ?
If you do not get it to work with ccd try daemon-tools' fast dump feature or alcohol120%.

I should add that this slow copying of the first few percent is normal. Just let Clonecd continue for a few hours and it will be done. Otherwise try what Monty suggested.
