Please help me recap for starting out...
I've read the FAQ and stickies. I'm just trying to see if I understand this because it seems a little complex. Forgive me if it's somewhat redundant.
Here's what I have: Windows XP MSI CD-RW MS-8348 Nero Burning Rom 5.5.9.13 Some Games I own that I want to backup: No One Lives Forever 2 Mafia Battlefield 1942 Medal of Honor: Allied Assault Half-Life ------------------------------------- Is there any of them I can backup already? Which can I NOT backup? I'm thinking of looking into Alcohol 120%, would that solve my problems or is buying new hardware necessary? Last edited by Yoma44; 22-03-2003 at 12:14. |

The first one I'm interested in is No One Lives Forever 2. If I understand right, could I just manually copy the files on the discs over to the hard drive, and then burn them with a No-CD crack?
Or would that not install because it wouldn't recognize disc two? |

It took a while to find information about your writer, since it wasn't listed in the CloneCD list. In fact, it took me more than half an hour before I could hunt down this little bit of review about your writer that mentioned what I needed to know. I'm sorry, but your writer is definitely NOT safedisc 2 capable. This means that all safedisc 2 games (Battlefield 1942, Mafia and Medal Of Honor Allied Assault in your list) can't be copied exactly. You can still copy them, but you'll need a crack to run them. Half-Life should be no problem at all, since it's not protected. No One Lives Forever II is securom new, and yes, you can just copy the files over and include a 'crack' directory with the nocd crack. It should work fine and have no problems with disc 2. I'd advise using Nero Burning Rom for this. You can do the same with the safedisc 2 games I mentioned above. As long as you can find cracks for those, you'll have no problems.

THANK YOU for researching that and for your response. I've been digging around on this stuff all day and since yesterday.
I think it may not be too late to return my CD burner and get a new one. Does anyone here have some suggestions for a good one to get? Also, what about DVD burners? Would that be even better, because I've been considering that. |
