ac 3 audio help

everytime i try to decode a avi with ac3 codec for sound all iget is a good decoded mpeg without sound i have all codecs installed g spoy says i have i need help as have got a few films which i cannot back up due to this problem even using software within nero or pinnacle t rex alli get is just movie without sound please help

have you tried any of the tutorials available on the web? and of course, why are you decoding avi's for backup purposes? that is, to be blunt, stupid?

ok country boy first i am newbee not stupid at all what i meant if u had intelligence 2 read between lines is every time i try and decode an avi to mpeg with the avi audio source as ac3 all i get is the picture and no sound so if u cannot respond in a respectfull manner to my request then simply do not answer as limited vocabulary does make ones self a little shall we say illiterate

i think u better start from scratch.

What is your source? - Files or disc
What audio streams does it have? - 2ch stereo or AC3
What programs are u using?

Provide this info for starters and maybe we can help you further.

that was about as respectful as i get

the reason i called your request stupid was because you create avi's for backing up. you dont rip a dvd to avi, and then back to mpeg. thats stupid. and a waste of time.

but if thats how you are, by all means, have fun.

and your lengthy, one sentence post lends credence to the illiterate / stupid angle.

and im still laughing about country boy.
