problems with saga frontier 2 jap/ntsc

does anyone know how to burn a backup copy of saga frontier 2 jap/ntsc ? I've tried the 2 different XPS patches found on the megagames site, but when I burnt the patched ISO back to the cd-r, and put it in the psx machine, it always froze at the loading screen (not even into the game itself yet)...so does anyone know another way of getting around this problem?.
