I wonder if it could be possible to create selfboot games using these 60Hz files linking original games files, without swapping disks...

I can't check it right now. Does it boot Halflife, Ooga Booga or NBA2K2 to 60Hz?

I tried it on halflife using xeal.cjb.net's tutorial on making a game non boot again. Well the game still boots 50hz using the boot cd.
however, although the game boots fine i get a kind of runtime error when i press start at the title screen.. i don't know if its cuz of the hex editing ( i changed 2x 5C2E strings into 2x A600 strings) since LBA was 11702 so i don't think i did anything wrong... + it boots fine and doesnt go back to the DC bios screen as it should be with wrong editing (so its stated). Well anyone else may try it or try VC2 which i also was plannin to retool to non boot again... My CD's ran out

That utopia 60hz doesnt boot selfboot games, the only game i found it useful for is Grandia 2 (original and PAL), its not the panacea i thought it was. I wanted it to boot some originals, my results: Grandia 2, boots @ 60hz ![]() Skies of Arcadia, boots @ 50hz ![]() Residen Evil CV, boots @ 50hz (well at least this one has a nice overscan) Deadly Skies, boots @ 50hz Sega Rally 2, boots @ 50hz (damn winCE games grrr) Quote:
About NBA2k2, i guess u mean the US version because the PAL one has a selector. U can boot it @60 with action replay. WinCE games, whats the problem......I know they can be unprotected, and i have a couple of hints: -The fact that someone found the 60hz string for Sega Rally 2, it was one of the releasers of the game. -Resident Evil 2: the PAL version has an awesome 50/60 selector. OK laters

PAL NBA2K2, it seems that backup version was not released. I know that it's a great game and worth buying but it's hard to get right now. About Half Life, it runs at 60Hz on US dreamcast, does it? I think it has no other choice. So making boot CD which would boot it at 60Hz on PAL dc should be posibble. DC-X is a perfect boot disc, that's a pity that it boots only originals. And UTOPIA, someone should modify it so it would boot selfbooted games. GameShark, DC-X, AR are are able to do it so why Utopia can't? -- PAL dreamcast owner

i think resident evil 2 (KAL-RE2A/B)
is the key to boot wince games in 60 hz. it has a selector for five different 50Hz pal modes and 60 hz. |

What I don`t understand is that nobody managed (or could be bothered) dumping the DC-X bootdisk.
It may have strong security routines. |
