Mafia -- derranged text appears??
Ok, after installing my new video card
ATi Radeon Atlantis 9000 Pro - 128Meg DDR RAM (Sapphire) I start to see loads of weird lines and paragraphs of text appear on the screen as im playing Mafia??  The setup is as follows: Res = 1280x1024 32bit fullscreen antialiasing = off triple buffering = off vert sync = off true color = on low detail = off compressed textures = off Refresh rate = default Sound: 5.1 surround sound speakers Software mixing only = off Disable EAX = on Expert settings: Hardware transform & lighting = on Suspend when inactive = on Multi-pass rendering = off Clip always = off W buffer = on Ive tried running it in as low res as 800x600 in 16bit.... turning low detail and compressed textures on, and true color off.... but the strange text still appears. My basic system specs are as follows: windows 2000 AMD Athlon 700Mhz 256Meg SDRAM ATi Radeon 9000 Pro (Catalyst 3.0) SB Live! Value Direct X 9.0 Any ideas? Tim

The games tech support have been really unhelpful and useless... so for my last option i came here

Install the XP SP1 fix and dont use any other update's once installed this will stop ur problem
same problem occurs with GTA 3
