Chinese Game - Us System
Ok, I have this Chinese game, but I have an English Windows 98. The game installs, but it dosent play, keeps giving me an error on startup, my GUESS is that this error is a cd check. This is unconfirmed but I heard that the cd check is nothing more then checking the label of the cd to see if it matches, well, since I have a US based OS it cant read the Chinese label, just sees it as underscores, and therefore it refuses to start. Is there any way to get past simple cd checks as these? Maybe a program that is made to searh for very well known (and weak) cd protection methods? I tried using a program caleld NJstar but it didnt work, the chiese letters appeared but it STILL wouldent start.
Ideas anyone? Couldent find any no-cd cracks.

It sounds like you'll have to run it under a chinese version of Windows. I'm not really sure if this will help but I definitely can't think of anything else that may help.

Well, one person so far has gotten it to work. He uses Windows 2k and he was able to use some program called Chinese Star 2001 to make it work, he said he will send me the program (though he is on 56k, so itll take a while). Maybe knowing this will help anyone else try to make it work? I tried an alternative called NJstar that can use janpaniese and chinese, but it didnt work.
Any ideas? Oh, one more thing, if I made an iso of this, is it possible that any of the formatting/chinese characters/etc will be lost/scrambled when the iso is made or when it's burned? Because if not then I can extract some of the files manually from the iso, windows cant read or process foldernames in foreign languages (though FILEnames in foreign languages work) but most iso explorers can.

U can test to change the support for windows. And do that Windows support Chinese settings and keyboard standard.

That only changes the keyboard language, it dosent change Window's internal language nor does it add any additional support for foreign programs.

I really don't understand what's the Chinese name of the game you mentioned above...
Win2k don't need cstar or njstar to play with Chinese game or use any Chinese software, just change the system language default to Chinese Simplified or Chinese Traditional. In the "Regional Options", "General", under "Language settings for the system", click the "Set default", and choose "Chinese (Taiwan)", which is Traditional or "Chinese (PRC)", which is Simplified. And restart the windows. You can switch between these... but each time need to restart the windows. For Win98, cstar sure can help with this kind of situation... and normally people here use cstar to play Chinese game... try to buy this software... or, richwin maybe can do that also... For this game, let me know the exact Chinese name of it, then I can try to find the nocd for you... Or maybe you can go to this site and look for it yourself... http://patch.ali213.net

Hey everyone, juts want to let you know that I figured out how to make it work.
Using a program called Chinese Star 2001 in BIG5 mode I was able to successfully install and play the game with no problems as long as CS2001 was running and the cd was in the drive. Without either Chinese star 2001 running or the cd the game refuses to work. Hope that helps anyone that was interested. So far there have been three people I knwo of that have gotten this game to work on an English OS using this program.
