Magic2 Chip

I have a scph-3003 (v3 i think) ps2 which was chipped with a neo 2.2 until just before christmas, when I changed to a Magic2.

Now when i try to play a dvd film i get weird faults, sometimes they freeze, sometimes they jump, sometimes I get the green screen and I have even had not able to read disc come up. After I eject disc and restart the Ps2 the film will then play ok. (Before the magic2 was installed all films played pefectly)

Is this the fault of the chip or can the laser be re-calibrated to sort out these problems.

Thanks

i am not 100% sure but i am thinking it is your laser. try reclibration and if that doesn't work u may need a new laser(that would be a good idea anyway besause u had a laser killer mod-chip b4)

hope this helps

Charlie_ps2 had a similar problem with a magic 2 install.

It's on his post here

http://www.fileforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=37089

A clone of an earlier Magic 2 version. 5% deducted for the AR2/GS2 backup isse; 5% deducted for the need to put a 1uF polarised 35 volt capacitor on to play DVD movies properly.

Speak to your installer and refer him to this. if everything else is working fine chances are it's the same problem as above.

If your dvd based games and dvdr's especially run ok then your laser is fine.

If your installer doesn't know then possibly Private message Charlie_ps2 and explain the situation. I don't know if he would but he might be able to install it for you, or point you in the right direction.

Hope this helps,
James

thanks guys for your replies.

all dvd + dvd-r based games work without a problem. it is only when i am trying to play a movie.

my ps2 is going back to the installer tomorrow, so hopefully he will fix it properly.

thanks again and i will let you know how it goes.
