Problems with my Tekken 4 backup?

Hello:
I have a Playstaion2 30001 with a NEo2.2 mod chip and I have a Sony DRU 500 burner ,I did the backup using the Record now guide everything came out perfect and I am also using Verbatim -R dvd discs and I also went by the bootup guide here on this site but when I put in my backup it sounds choppy then stops could my lens need adjusting Im lost is my mod chip the worst it`s the 1 wire solder and it plugs into the USB port I have made 2 more compact disc copys perfect but the DVDs are not working I could use alot of input thank you.

The curse of the dreaded neo 2.2 strikes again. Yes it is ur laser. DVD backups will be the first to not work, then original dvds. If I were you I would consider getting a different modchip when you replace the laser.

How do you know for sure ????

How can I know for sure and can you get a new laser and what mod chip is the best?

Try using a cleaning disc on your PS2....(The ones with the little brushes on the underside of the disc)
It could be your lense is just dirty, BUT you will most likely find that even if that solves the problem, you are eventually going to have to either find a new laser or get another PS2..... The NEO is GOING TO KILL IT..... If it hasn't already....
