Unhappy all cds read 100%, 50% read on dvds

Hi

I was wondering why all my cd based games read perfectly (rips, backups and originals), while all my dvds read like crap (backups and originals) - only about 4-5 tries before it reads, sometimes i couldn't make it work.

The only dvd media that has a higher success ratio on being loaded on my ps2 are silver sided dvds.

I'm really stuck. help!

What brand of dvd media are you using and what version is your PS2?
The PS2 can be picky about dvd media... It is far less picky on cd-r media.....
Although it could be that your laser is on its last leg....

Thanks for the reply. . .

i've tried all sorts of brands (verbatims, tdk, etc..) , but no luck. Even some of my dvd originals are having a hard time to load...

I've read some posts here regarding pot adjustment... is it hard to do for a newbie? are there any guides as to opening a ps2?

dont write off v4 that easy
i just sold 2 year old v4 heavily used 3-4 hours everyday
neo2 for year then messiah from day1 fitted by ct

one thing i have had to do regulary to it is clean it with cd/dvd cleaner one with little brushes on it

dont ask me why but v4 needs doing regulary, my v5 and v7 never need it

sometimes it struglles with exactly same symptons u are describing
but it plays perfectly after a clean

got to be worth a try
