Did you install your drive as master on you second IDE channel? It must be on master NOT slave.

What writing software have you tried? I have heard that PrimoDvd doesn't work with it. What types of errors are you getting and will the drive play a dvd movie?

That is not true. I have a Toshiba SD-R5002 DVD-R/RW CD-R/RW and it is set as slave to my regular 56x cd drive. It works fine with all my burning programs including, Prassi Primo, Stomp Record now max, and several others... ohh wait, I seem to remember having the same problem with mine a while back. lemme see... umm I believe it was windows shiety recording system. Click on the drive in the my computer window and go to properties, there will be tabs at the top, click on the "recording" tab. if the "Enable CD recording on this drive" is checked, uncheck it. That might be the problem. It was for me. good luck.

For the Toshiba a slave setting might be ok but Pioneers have to be set to master.
