backing up a skipping dvd-r ps2 game
I think i allready know the answer to this, but, if i backup a skipping dvd-r of a ps 2 game (works fine in all other ways apart from the skipping), onto a decent medium this time, will the new copy have the same skipping errors, or are they just a result of a poor quality burn / dvd-r medium. Hope you can help as i'm getting a pioneer ao5 tommorrow + some dvd-r's!!! (any recommendations for cheap dvd-r's that woork well with this dvd burner & a uk v5 messiah chipped ps2??)

for your media you cant beat Traxdata DVD-R from www.bigpockets.co.uk or www.blankdiscshop.co.uk, several of us on this forum swear by these.
as for the skipping game, yes - you should be able to do what you have said just out of interest, what media did you burn to to end up with the skippy game?

the cd was ripped using an lg 2* dvd on my laptop, stored on a network server then burnt on a pioneer a04 using dyd decrypter 3.1.3.0 on infiniti branded media (4.7 gig i think).
No probs in the burning, no drops in the burn / transfer from the network server, and i'm not sure what firmware revision the pioneer was on - i can find out, i'm on site tommorrow. Thanks for your input, got any ideas on what i can expect to be paying for a bulk pac of those trax data (i'll checkout those links you posted in a bit.. ) Regards, Xboson

Why did you rip the game instead of doing a straight copy with your A04?

just got my new a05 on saturday. The a04 was a mates that he bought for a company project.... and the original, well, er, you know, blockbuster likes their games back in a decent time, no. So i rip to my laptop, transport to mates place of work (he wanted me to email it to him!!!, now we have a fast link, but 4.5Bg.. i think the email server might object), and then burn to his a04.
Bit of a nightmare really, but i'm getting a fifty pack of those traxdata's, plus a trial dvd-r pack from some other place to test out all the other brands and see which works best for my ps2. So i take it that direct copy is the prefered method then? Any reason why? What are you using, i hear primo being bandied about in here, but dvd decrypter seems to bee pretty easy / user friendly & it's free (legally free... )Cheers, Xb

A direct copy is and always will be the best option. Thats all I ever do. I personally use Record Now DX, it came with my A04. PrimoDvd and Record Now Max are also very good. Nero usualy does the job as well but it has been known to have a few problems with some games.

Definately burn with Primo (which is free) or Record Now Max (which should have came with your A05).....
You will run into problems using DVD Decrypter.... It works for MOST games, BUT NOT ALL..... NOTE: Primo will not recognize the A05 so you will have to use Record Now Max...
