well, people, i need some help. i searched the web and in clonecd website, in this forum, and other forums, and my cdrw-burner CyberDrv CW038D is not compatible when burning safedisc 2 games, because it doe NOT does very well EFM encoding blah blah blah, ok, i tested the safedisc 2 test that vluka proposed, and i fact, it didnt worked for me. so everybody is right, my burner is not compatible. BUT= i bought 2 games, age of mythology and need for speed hot pursuit 2, both with safedisc 2 protection (correctme if im worng saying that both are v2.80), and i tried to backup them with clonecd, and in this forum says vluka that safedisc v2.80 its recomended to burn that images with alcohol, so i downloaded alcohol, burned the images with safedisc2 profile, and walah!! the backups are workin without a patch or anything else just like the original, i even downloaded the new patch for age of mythology from the game pressing the update button, restarted the game, and the cd that i burned, WORKS, it works. i backuped the images with clonecd 4.1.0.1 and burned with alcohol 1.3.5.1112. so, what is happenning here? why are they working when they should not?? help please its driving me crazy i cannot understand the logic here.
i am putting the backups in a 56x cdreader, idont remember the brand name, later i will post it(imnot in my pc!).hehe.
later i tested it in other cdrws, and they worked again. no patch nor cracks, just the original backup.
please help

Basically the software enhances/fixes the weak sectors on the disk, making up for your hardware's lack of correct EFM coding. Clone CD is unable to do this as good as Alcohol does it at the moment.

Correct EFM-Encoding doesnot have any sheep, so it is possible that alcohol helps me? safedisc it is or not hardware dependant? beacuse if not, i will buy alcohol NOW. i need someone to clear my mind. if safedisc is hardware denedant there is no software to help me burning my cds. so if alcohol can, its not hardaware dependant, am i right?

Copying Safedisc IS hardware dependent. You cannot make a 1:1 backup of SD if you dont have a "two sheep" writer. Purchasing Alcohol wont help.

new clonecd virtual drive EMULATES weak sectors. futureproof at cdfreaks is testing it now. expect to see the release soon.

@matof: Do You have Hide CDR-Media option enabled in CloneCD Tray? If yes - turn it off because this option now emulates Safedisc. >>>>>>NO<<<<<<<

first, hide cdr media is disabled
and
second, im using my BENQ 656A 56x v56JA(FIRMWARE) to play the backups, and i burned them to a cdr and they play fine(podunkviller imnot running them form the machine, im running them from a cdr)

the thing here is how i am able to play with the backups when my cdrw is not compatible with safedisc2?(and playing them with BENQ 656A 56x v56JA(FIRMWARE) cd reader).

iam nNOT using any special option nor function nor software, just burned them with alcohol profile safedisc2.

thats why i need help, beacuse im not supposed to playit, and iam.

Well, to be sure - try to run this copy in another pc, possibly with clean OS. If it runs - it's ok - that's the sign that new SD is easier to copy. VLuka



i tried and they work! it seems that these backups work!

matof i read your post and tried my NO sheep burner TDK 8432
with alcohol and aom
if i try to run the game in the TDK CDWR, only works if i use hide atip, but tried in 2 diferentes CD and CD/DVD and work great, no hide atip, no hide cdrw media or any other thing
Have to try in other CDWR
is this ok ? i dont understand why it works

did you read? it doesnt matter atip here, atip is when u play a backup from cdrw to bypass the cdr/w detection.
the thing here is that he or i can play th ebackup we made with a cdrw that does not have 2 sheeps and burned with acohol.

i still want to know why is this happening

Alcohol's "Bypass EFM error" feature has made up for the fact that your burner isn't a 2 sheep burner by fixing the EFM coding. Although this isn't a 1:1 copy as such, it is practically the same.

Best thing to do is copy another SD 2 game.

I did indeed read.

If hide ATIP now not only hides the ATIP but also emulates Safedisc it doesnt matter whether your copy is made with a two sheep writer or a no sheep writer since SD is symply bypassed by the emulation.
