It's really quite simple. In principle : NO. But some games allow to make multiplayer spawns, i.e. installations that don't need the cd to work, but only work on LAN. I'm thinking of starcraft, though there are others. The majority of games these days use cd keys and usually that means that you need to buy a copy for every pc you want to use in the lan. That can be a bit of a bummer, but that's life. Now, as you may already know, we can't really discuss how to get around this on this board, but elsewhere you can find information on how to do this for (some) games. But normally you're required to buy multiple copies, yes. If this isn't the case, you can be sure every review mentions it as a positive point, so read some reviews or the game's readme for details.
