CD Protection

Is there any CD protection on the
Celtic Kings CD?
Or how would I make a perfect copy of the CD?

Every time I make a copy of it.
I get CRC errors dueing the installation process useing the copy

That's a sign that the copy is corrupt. Try installing from the originals, do you get the same errors ? If so, take it back to the shop and demand a new one, I don't know any good way to repair a bad cd.

Then it's a bad copy. In this thread it seems that it isn't even protected. Try making a new copy. Make an image to the hard disk first with CloneCd and mount that using Daemon Tools. If this installs fine, try burning this image to cd and see if that works. You might want to use a cdrw for that, if you don't want to risk another disc. I really don't know how else to solve this. Or maybe this : when you have made your image, use CD Mage to check the image for errors. If there are errors, you might want to try repairing them with CD Mage. Any error that it can't fix, will be an error on the cd if you use that image. Try this out and tell me if CD Mage finds bad sectors.

@cjsok:
Try burning the image with lower speed (1x - 4x) ...

Hello, If you exhaust all suggestions or choices,
1)I would check to see if you can copy any copy protected cd's you might own. If you have already done that, and were successful, then that would narrow your problem to the particular disc.
2) If you cant copy any protection, then it is possible to be the cdrw drive, settings in the particular software you are using, or possible problems with windows(I dont believe this should be looked at except as last resort. I had microsoft sludge in my registry/ op system that was effecting the drives ability to copy my copy protected cd's, but not regular cd's.)

I think I would agree in looking at the cd as that could be determined easily by burning another protected cd to see if you can. And that was a great suggestion as to keeping the speed to 4X as I managed to make (hopefully my last) coaster by not setting the speed down to four.
Also results could be caused by lower quality cdr's/cdrw disks, but I am sure you have thought of that already and can also be ruled out by trying to burn another cd game first. By the way, if your cdrw/cdrom/dvd lens gets dirty( which is caused by static electricity picking up dust, etc., the effect could cause problems in writing a disk, and eventually in reading a disk.

Good luck
Dave S.

As long as he gets it burning, I am happy...
blindwrite is excellent as ever, so if he can burn any disk with copy protection, it would zero down to a problem most likely with the particular disk....
And yes your answer was better, and much shorter which is always better...
Cheers,
Dave
