Thumbs down CD labels on PSX game problems...

I made myself a copy of NHL 2000 ages ago and played through a season with no problems.

I applied a label to the game afterwards and I tried to play a season but the game frequently freezes at the main menu. The only reason I can think of for the problem is the label I applied.

Has anyone else ever had problems after applying labels to games? Is the only way to fix the problem removing the label?

labels can cause lots of problems when applied to data disks so remove it by soaking the disk in warm water so the label peels off then the disk will work fine again!!

It also depends on what media you use
Verbaitim is fine, but If the cd side is too glossy and shiny
then it will peel of
so what you should have is a matt side not glossy

Not neccessary so..I apply Neato High Gloss on just about every Cd-r known to man and it's fine..
It's cheap paper or imitation glossed labels that will cause damage on the Media's..And do the heat internally the label will peel or the label creates bubble/bumps which I'm sure on a PS2(more likely)when it's spinning the disc..
While the Cd is spinning the bump will hit the deck of the Ps2 causing skips..It shouldn't be that much of a problem for PS1 since there is plenty of Roof space on it..at least playstation not sure about PS1 though..
Use Neato High Gloss..I use them on DVD-R as well and it's fine..
Of course there might be a problem for some out there since nothing is guarantee..

Same here, i have had no problems with neat-o cd labels. just make sure you fit it on the cdr correctly making sure it has no excess hanging over the edge of the cd.

Lightbulb

I've applied labels to other PS1 games and have had no problems with them. So I guess i've got no choice but to remove the label.
