Gta3
Hi,
I have searched the forums aleardy and read all the subjects relating to GTA3 but I haven't been able to find the answer to my problem. I'm running it on Win98 second edition. I have tried to backup the Install disk, first time I was unsuccessful, as it mentioned a error of some sort. So I tried it again this time it was successful. But when I enter the second disk, the Rockstar logo comes up and then it performs an illegal operation. Do any of you guys know what is the problem, as I had thought the Play disk had been successfully copied. Thanxs, Tonisho |

You haven't "searched" very far. The game is protected with Safedisk 2.51
Download Clone CD and Clony XXL and read this

I have looked through that document, and I have used the two pieces of software. Thats why I asked why it wont load successfully. That it why I am baffled as to why it won't work and posted this thread. I'm sure I must of done something wrong but I'm not sure what. I thought someone may of had the same problem while trying to backup the game.

The document I linked to details how to copy games. The error messege you received is because of the Safedisk 2.51 protection.
Your burner must be capable of perfect EFM coding (see here and see if your burner has two sheep in the EFM column). If it has then use Clone CD to copy the game but disable AWS. When playing the game, if you play from a burner, enable Hide CD-R Media to get around the ATIP check (search for more detailed explanation). If it has one sheep, then enable AWS, but it is not guarateed to copy sucessfully, but will do in most cases. If no sheep, then you have little hope of a 1:1 copy so you should download a crack from one of the sites listed in the sticky topic. That's the basics of copying the game. More detailed info cannot be given as you haven't given detailed informatio - cd-writer, Clone CD settings etc All of this information could have be obtained by reading the FAQ

Thanks four your help, if you would of mentioned the reason it won't load was because of the Safedisk 2.51 protection in the first response it would of helped me earlier. Like I said I have read the link to the page you had said, before. But the problem is that I have only backed-up a few of my games before, which don't include any real protection. Also I can't really supply any more details as to the type of cd-burner, as I bought it a few years ago, and didnt really take any notice of the details, and don't have the packaging anymore. So I can't check how many sheep it is. The clone cd settings were the details suggested by clony xxl. Anyway as I can't supply the details refering to the cd-burner I'll just solider on untill I cant correctly back-up my disk. Thanx for the time you spent trying to help me out.

Goto your Device Manager (right click on My Computer and click properties and you'll find it) and it'll show the model of ur writer.
I'd guess that it isn't capable of correct EFM coding so you should download a crack from GCW, or alternatively download Bools Eye's Safedisk Cleaner to get rid of the Safedisk protection yourself. (This may be better as finding a working crack sometimes can be difficult).

I had already though of the proporties idea, but I'm afraid it doesn't say. It only says my Dvd drive and not my Cd-Writer.
The only info it gives is IDE-Cd R/RW 8x4x32. |
