laser issues on ps2

How long does a Ps2 last before the laser gives out? any suggestions? Yo Bg you got the same ps2 that i ordered from charlie, (v5 i think) did you get any tips on how long it would last? Charlie if your reading this let me know an estimation, just concerned. I dont want to have to have someone fix my laser after a year or so and spend money doing that. Tdk and Verbatim are the best dvd-rs and CDr's on the market that wont put pressure on the laser to read it, is this true or will all media put pressure on a laser making it work a little harder then pressed games from sony? I belive this to be the case but was just wondering. I read the post about black cdr's and dvd-r's these are the type of media made for the psx1 any known fact on these to work well or better then the tdk and verbatim or is it just color and thats why its so expensive? haha

Personally I dont think anybody can answer u that question. Its all depand how u use it and what media u use.Every media (copy game) will put ur ps2 laser on pressure. And of couse how u take care of ur console.
But bassically because u got a V5 it will last a lot longer than V3/V4.

Also stay away from DVD rips.... These put alot more stress on the laser thus wearing them out quicker......

OH YEAH..... Stay away from colored media.....

The old saying for black cd-r's is "Black is Crap"

I probably use my personal ps2 v5 more than most people here. I use mine to test numorous amounts of games just about every day (Cd-r and DVD-r). Still never had a laser problem. I have had this particular PS2 for about 3/4 of a year.

I do use nothing but TDK media for CD-R and either Verbatim, Apple, or TDK media for DVD-R.

Use good media and your ps2 laser will last you a long time.

Exact answer: His PS2 will last until a hot summer in June (23) 2005.

Hell I use all sorts of DVD-rips as well. NO PROBLEMS. I test the limits of a PS2 everyday.
