DC Burning prob
I tried to burn Ikaruga with DJ3 recently and i got some strange errors, so I decided to use CDIrip and then burn it using the method on Jules' site (Guide to make Dreamcast Selfbootable CD with Nero Burning ROM). I got two audio tracks in the first session and a data track in the second session when I extracted everything with CDIrip. Next thing I did was burning the Audio tracks and later on the patched (with the ip.bin from marcus serial slave) image. When I booted the game in my DC though, it didnt even load the Sega License screen. Instead it automatically resets the DC to the dreamcast menu. What did I do wrong? Could it be the LBA is wrong or something? It also is stated on many dc sites that a cd will need a 1st_read.bin next to a ip.bin and I didn't come across doing something with a "1st_read.bin". What is it?
I hope and think someone will help cause I need to get things straight about the 1st_read.bin stuff. Any help would be very welcome indeed..... |

Burn it with DJ4. I had no problems at all and the game works just fine.

How does it work...
Well, I'll try to make simple : _ ip.bin tells the name of the 1st file read (usually "1st_read.bin" or "0winceos.bin"). On bootable discs, ip.bin is inserted BETWEEN the 1st and the 2nd session. _ 1st_read.bin (or any other 1st file read) is an executable file that will be launch 1st (obviously). It contains LBA value the indicates where all the stuff is. Your DC will 1st access ip.bin (it knows it's at the end of 1st session). It will read where to find the 1st file to launch (name + LBA value for data session), and then launch it. |

Well I tried to burn it with DJ4 and I got the same error Nimros (see other topic) had. I also used DJ3 previously and I burned approx. 80 games successfully so I don't have a clue what the problem seems to be....
Suggestions?! BTW --- Thanks for the info about the ip.bin/1st_read.bin stuff |

about dj4...
Yeah I checked raw-write, because I always got a "no seek complete"- error if I didn't. Anyway, Ill try DJ 4.01.968 PRO instead of 965 that I used. Maybe that will solve everything. Thanks for the help sofar...

Well, maybe you should try to burn it another way : extract your files using CDIRip, then use Echlon's methode to make your game selfboot...
