buffer level

hi everyone i have this friend who got his comp built and he has had problems with it from the start. but first of all when he copys a cd it used to take like 2 miniutes now its like 9. he has a liteonit 24x10x40 burner
the buffer goes down to about 1. and it shouldnt do that. he has a 40g hard drive so he dosnt need space.he has 256 ram uhh 1.6 pentium 4. he is mostly burning MUSIC cd's

take the burner off the same ide cable as the hard drive.
