Anyone ever try Comp USA brand DVD-Rs? They're pretty cheap (about $3 each) but I don't want to buy them if they will make the PS2 work harder than it has to, or not work at all. Also, Comp has (had?) a sale going on on Verbatim DVD-RWs, $8.99 -20%. Can the PS2 read them? I just picked up a new 3001R ver.5 unit.

Both the Verbatim RW's from CompUSA and the Memorex RW's from Best Buy work great on my 30001R unit. All I use, in fact, just in case I get an error in burning.

Still paying double for one disc is useless. I have only had 2 bad burns in over 200 dvd-r's I have burned. Now that I think of it I would have saved twice as much as you if you had burned as much as me.
Its like buying a five point harness for use as a seatbelt in your regular car. Its a bit of overkill. Tyler!

Just making the point that RW's will work in a PS2. I don't have a lot of games to backup, and since I can get a decent price on the RW's, and use them for other things, that's what I buy.

Understood.
But from what I have heard RW's were not the good choice for all PS2's. Tyler!
