nero and acer 6206a (2*2*6 i think)

i have a freind that has a system config like this

intel 440bx mboard
winme os (fully updated, all components)
nero (latest version)
ez cd creator used to be installed, but was removed
latest aspi installed
acer 6206a (latest firmware) which is old

when she opens nero, the choose cd recorder pops up, and virtual device only is the only thing that shows

i almost have same identical setup accept my acer is the 8*4*32a and i have a via chipset m/board
and mine shows up fine (in cd recorders)
can someone give advice on howto fix?

Boot in safe mode( tap on 'F8' during startup and select safemode from windows startup menu #3 ), check for duplicate device drivers in CD rom and Disk Drives, if any device is duplicated, please remove all(ie if you have 2 Acer roms, remove 2 acer roms, etc.). Also, there may be remnants of Easy Cd in the registry, and easycd and nero are known to conflict, you may need to contact Roxio/Adaptec for help removing them from the registry, same if you try to uninstall Nero and reinstall EasyCD, then call Ahead and get help removing software from the registry.
