Warlock is on a distinguished road
If it's a PSX backup then it should load without the use of a boot disc.

Warlock is right, it should work straight away

don't know if this is the case but the neo2.2 won't let you play backups of psx1 games from a different region to that of your machine

therfore

if u have a usa syphon 3 and pal machine it won't work

but if u have pal syphon 3 and pal machine it's fine

If this is the case there is an easy way round it by re-burning it and changing the region using any of a number of programs on gamecopyworld.com

the programs to use are the same ones used to play imports on the psone.

if this isn't the case then no idea m8

well if it is the pal game then the only thing i can think of is that it's a bad burn, try borrowing it off some1 and copy it using clone cd.

No no, definetely not a bad burn....back in the days when i used Action replay2 cd's for booting the game just booted and nothing was wrong....i tried alot of psx backups...they just don;t boot right away....so that's not gonna work.

what booting method do u use to play normal ps2 and dvdr backups?

There are a couple of rouge chips named neo 2.1 etc.

well i use the dvd region x for booting like this

insert dvd regionx, wait for the disc stop loading {the little buzzing sound} eject, change cd with ps2 backup...close tray....and then start....

the neo chips require that you have to hold the start button down until u need the drive to open.
if u'r not doing this then i really don't know what chip you are using as i've only dealt with neo2.2/no solder and DO I REALLY NEED TO NAME IT!

Any1else got ideas?

After picking my brain i think i know which chip you have,
it could be a chip called the starchip. it's similar to the neo but no holdingpower 4 bkup.
I did one a long long time ago but try this

put syphon3 in and then power down. when you turn on the ps2 hold down ur reset button until (Hopefully it turns blue) then release it and the ps1 should bkup. i can't remember if u said anyother ps1 bkups worked but try this

hmm,, that's kinda weird..cause when it's turned on and you just tip the reset button it jumps to blue right away....so i gotta be really FAST?
