MGS2 DVD-R Backup Charlie

Charlie - you may be able to help me out on this one... I got a few DVD-R backups for my v4PS2 messiah chip. WRC works great. Silent Hill 2 Works great. Final FantasyX works great (after I switch the language to English!) But Metal Gear Solid 2 rarely boots into the game Engine. When it does, frequently there is a picture of a disc in the to right of the screen flashing with a question mark.

I have been as far as the Russians cutting the throats of the guys on the boat, and chucking them overboard. When it tries to load the next segment of the cutscene it frezes here (it freezes at the end of other cutscene sections too)

I suspect it may be a bad burn - but would just like to check with you first. Should I send it back (considering all the other DVD-Rs work fine) or should I callibrate the laser lens to play it? Could anyone suggest something here? The game does look good.

By the way, it is burned on a brand of media called "Prime Disc" The format looks to be for video as on the label it says "120mins/4.7 GB

Any suggestions? Poor reflectivity - bad quality burn? Cheers.

Your last two suggestions win my support.

I backed MGS2 up from original onto Princo. It booted on the v5 fairly normally - it takes a long time though both original and backup.

On the Jap 15000, it booted very slowly with the disk in the top right staying on a long time. On the other 15000, I got FMV skip. So I cleaned the lens and it worked better.

So you're into the issues elaborated in my post "Understanding DVD/DVD-R Issues".
