can i get vcds to play on my ps2 without special software

i am wondering if i can get vcds to play on my ps2 i have a model 20002 r with b3 and the first two chars on my serial number im using the ar2 ver 2 disk and only recently purchased and had my ps2 chipped i dont know what model chip it is but if you can help and ive tried a piece of software called ps2 vcd-divx 1.1 but all it does is go thouh to my browser and says its a playstation 1 disk
