CloneCD SUCKS
Ok i have finally got cloneCD of a friend who came round and installed it along with his CDkey. Well im just writing this to tell ya that i think it sucks it takes waaaaaayyyyyyyy to long to do a CD. So i am going to go back to using adaptec or look for something else but i aint gonna spend 20+hrs doing 1 CD using clone at all. You may ask how i came to that conclusion of it taking soooo long well i spent 36 mins backing up a cd and yup it had only done 3% after all that time i also noticed that it was doin 1% after 12mins so if you calculate that it would take 20hrs to READ (only) the CD let alone how long it would take to actually write it (could this be 2-3times longer???) so with that in mind i think cloneCD sucks and am really glad i didnt pay for and once uninstalled i would be able to get it again (thank god) you fools who payed 50£ for it may you been conned is all i gotta say.

Here we have another example of the typical type of idiot that comes to the forum with their typical stupid statements and questions.
You are obviously to stupid to be able to ensure that you use software that supports your hardware or if it does, not capable of using the correct settings. Finally he uses Adaptec, the most useless piece of software possible for copying any cd of which these forums are the subject! |

Even though this might belabor the obvious, as everyone else has stated it above ... I find CloneCD to be simple and easy to use. Five minutes after I had downloaded the application, I was making a copy of my Age of EMpires II: Age of Kings CD. Approximately 30 minutes later, I had two backup CDs created. And yes, for legal purposes. One for my house, and one for the computer at the lake house. The original goes back in the case.
![]() I would suggest that you validate your hardware and read the TXT that comes with CloneCD. It is a very good product. Moz PS: Quote:

i found it easier to use than the nero app i got with my ricoh cd writer/dvd player.
it can take a long time to copy and write on some games ( which i own (tm.) and sometimes very quick ie. half- life takes less than 30 mins to read and write and unreal tourny takes absolutely ages- but it does copy ut , without having to use a crack, it is not perfect - there some games it does not copy. .i am using the cd clone demo at 2x speed for recording. cd clone is the best there is it is superior to anything i have used. if you intend to copy *your* games maybe you can install a new firmware for your cd re-writer. is your hardware supported? what app for making *perfect* back-ups of pc games have you used for pc games? |

Top Of The Line
As a collector of software, I can tell you this, CloneCD is the best Backup Software for most any CD that will come across in the market today. As with anything else you must select the right tool for the job. I've literally burned thousands of CD's and this is what I use the most and what I use it for:
ClondCD ---- To Backup Orginal Copies FireBurner ---- To Burn Bin Files Adaptec EZCD ---- Data CD and ISO's MusicMatch Jukebox ---- For Audio (Which I beleave uses the adaptec engine for recording) CDRwin ---- To Make Bin Files tshap1 |

OH ok after all these posts saying that cloneCD rules i did some checking and found that something was scewy with my comp well 2 things 1.one of the data strips was ####ed and had to be replaced and 2.So does my 48x CD-rom Drive so maybe this will fix the problem i had with cloneCD with its 12minutes of doing 1% and maybe it wont who knows untill i get a new CD-Rom drive. BUT i have also passed this along to 5 other ppl and 3 have replied that they also show signs of it being too slow? Is it the copy i downloaded or what??? Version i have downloaded is CloneCD 2.8.3.1 and the file is 1.73MB big. If anyone can help either post a reply or send e-mail please. All help will be appreciated and yes i am new to this side of things as well. I also have Nero 5.0.3.5, cdrwin, adaptec 3.5c and adaptec 4.0--these came with each burner. 1 is a philips 24x4x4 (dont know anything else about it cos its my dads) and i have an LG Goldstar 32x8x4 as far as i know they are both compatable.

To Mane:
I guess you tried to copy a Safedisc cdrom (Aoe2 maybe?) with lots of bad tracks at the start. Thats why your drive took 12min to read 1%. In these cdroms, reading the first 1% takes from 10 to 60 min UNLESS you have error skip ON. The rest 99% takes some 5 min! Quote:

Close but not AoE2 ive tried to do a game called NOX also Imperium Galactica 2 and Vampire the Masquerade. All these take about 12-15 mins to do 1%. But i have recently discovered that i had a faulty data strip (now sorted out and replaced) and my 48x cd reader went up the spout so this has also been changed now got a 52x LG reader. Havent tried clone as of yet but i have been told that the first 1-10% can take anywhere upto as you say 60 minutes to do the rest of the cd is done in like 2-10 mins. This i have been told by an online buddy who has used it to make a backup of RA2, MW4 and others and he thinks its a great program. The only thing i know about my CD-RW is that its an LG GOLDSTAR 32x8x4 and thats it. Have been told that if clone doesnt support the CD-RW then it will tell you as of yet and to my knowledge it is supported and it is also less than 6mths old so it must support the software that clone needs.
For all those ppl who sent me an e-mail and helping me out i say thanks very much. Happy New Year to all and lets hope this year is a good one. |

So well i am basically posting this to apologize for what i said about clonecd in the first post. There i said
have fun all.
