PPF patching - burning.
I need help burning the tdata.iso & raw or wav file after I rip it with cdirip and then patch them with ppf-o-matic. I tried the uh - cdrwin method last night.. but I probably messed something up. I've read the e-tutorial a couple times.. not sure that I've swallowed it completely.. And that's part of the reason I'm here... the other part is that I'm really tired of creating new coasters.
I can follow instructions plainly, or extended. Please any help would be much appreciated. G'day |

Let me sum up : you've got an image (which format ?), you patched it and then used CDIRip ? If you've got an image, and want to patch it, just patch it and reburn it. No need for CDIRip. If it's a non selfboot image and you want a selfboot CD, patch it, use CDMage to extract all your files and follow Echlon's tutorial. Once again, no need for CDIRip. Tell me what you want to do. I'm not sure I understood... |

OMG! This could be a real simple problem.. with me trying to do it the hardway... typical ...
It's a .cdi image. The PPF provided requires me to patch the .iso cuz it uses crc to see if its the right size. I know what the patch does though.. changes it from 11700 to 11702. Would applying the patch anyway (it gives me that option in ppf-o-matic 3.0) harm anything.. you think? The game is Soul Calibur, for the record. |

Hum...
I suppose you can't burn it since your burner can't handle LBA value = 11700... What I would do is : 1) extract all the files to a directory 2) BinHack 1st_read.bin using 11702 LBA value 3) burn the game using Echelon's tutorial. |

Well. To be completely honest. I am 100% dumbfounded to ppf patching a cdi image. I tried this out.. didn't work... I don't quite understand the dynamics of all this mess.. I need some time to read... read.. and yes.. do some more reading. Got a nasty gaming habbit though =P Thanks for trying to help me.. maybe I'll ask back at ya when I have something more specific.

This is how PPF files work : they change a specific code at a specific place by another code. This is why they often need the original file, since the code needs to be at the same place. Since CDI / ISO / BIN file formats are different, patches are specific to one format.
But if you know what to look for and what you need to replace, you can do it manually. It's a bit harder, but you don't need the original file. |
