Lightbulb GTA 3 - Requesting CD 2/No Sound "Solution"

Well after reading all the messages about people having issues with GTA 3 prompting for Disc 2, nothing fixed my problem apart from the deviance fix which uses the b-loader.exe file. However this caused no sound in the game itself.

So i presume the b-loader.exe forces gta3 to not detect the sound card, so i tried the myth patch file and this seemed to take longer to load but still asked me to insert disc 2 (bearing in mind i have already copied the contents of disc 2 to the gta folder.

I then checked all the files within the Audio folder and found that 5 of the files are currupt (arghhhhh). So by duplicating one of the working ones and renaming them as the currupt files. Hay presto i can now run GTA3.exe with no problems.

Well, it worked for me!!

The Crack i used was mytgtafx.zip.

Do you remember the files that are corrupt? Once that is done then do I need to use the b-loader to run the game?
Thanks a lot.

Mine takes over 900mb because of the audio files copied off disc 2 for faster loading. But my sound won't work untill I find the corrupted files.

To run the game, get a file from gamecopyworld.com called b-loader.exe . Find it within the GTA3 cracks and its under one of them. That should boot the game.

Which of the files were corrupt, how did you check this? I've coppied the contents of my audio folder on the cd to the audio folder and it still won't give me audio, and the myth patch still asks for disk 2. Any ideas?

Unhappy

Could you please email this crackfix of Deviance to me? When I download it from Gamecopyworld.com it doesn't work. It says the file is corrupt. I need the b-loader.exe file.

hellburger, you can test your audio files to see if they're corrupted by just doubleclicking them. if they're ok, your media player should come up and you'll hear some sound. if they're corrupted, you'll get an error message. (the message i got on the 4 of mine that were corrupted was "cycle redundancy error"...

genty, those cracks on gamecopyworld are comming up bad for you because you have an older winrar. goto download.com and download the newest version of winrar. (3.0)

My computer won't play any of these files. Winamp just skips the file and Windows media player just says it doesn't support this format. So can someone please tell me the corrupt files or do I have all corrupt files?
Thanks

Hey, Just an update for all who are interested..... while this isn't a fix for the sound (as I haven't figured that out myself) I do know game fix that will work for any crack. Those two files mentioned above(sfx.raw & sfx.sdt) must be removed from audio directory. After this is done you can run the game without cd with any patch.

i keep reading all these posts about people having difficulties getting GTA3 to run correctly, i must be the luckiest bloke in the world cos i got my backup discs to run first go !

all i did was the following :

1. install cd in burner ( HP8000+) use clony XXL
2. comes up SDV2.51
3. fast error only should be ticked on the read settings
4. the fast error settings were 3 retries and NONE
5. read at 2x speed
6. same as above for the PLAY cd
7. installed the INSTALL cd.......figures , hehe !
8. took the audio folder from the PLAY cd and installed it in the GTA3 game folder
9. extracted the GTA3 NO-CD version 1.0 CRACK into the GTA3 folder.
10. make sure the PLAY cd is in your drive and PLAY THE GAME !

personally, i think this is better than the PS2 version.

winxp pro
AMD DURON 800
320mb ram
TNT2 pro 32mb
hewlett packard 8000+ cd writer

PS i burned the discs at 2x speed

Joe Forster/STA is on a distinguished road
Hi guys, _I_ created "empty" WAV and MP3 files (about 300 Kbytes altogether), put them into the AUDIO directory. And, hey, I got rid of several hundreds of Megs of irrelevant audio and the game is still working (no "gimme CD 2" messages displayed).

Still No Sound! Please Help

I copied all of the audio files from the CD to the audio folder in the game's directory. When I use the b-loader I get no sound what so ever in the game.

I did like you said and checked all of the files for corruption but they are all working fine. I got sound on all of them and no errors.

Can anyone please tell me why I still have no sound?

Thanks,
Big Roy

RE: Kevinandperry

Hey Kevin,
I have a question for you. I saw that you were using a Duron 800, 320mb ram, and TNT 2 card and XP pro.

I have a P4 1.4Ghz, 256mb ram, and also have a TNT2 card and XP pro.

My problem is that the game runs exremely slow. I'm running it at the lowest resolution possible and I've turned off the frame sync, trails, and have lowered the draw distance quite a bit.

The game is still slow. Sometimes it starts off at a decent speed then gets slower.

I have closed all the applications and there aren't any running in the background.

I thought it might have something to do with it having to continuously read the sound from the CD which is just whirring away under my desk as I play. That is why i came to this thread. I'm trying to get the NO-CD working so I can find out if that is what is causing the slowness in the game.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Big Roy
