no cd

I have Plextor 8/20 CDR and every time i make a music cd and put i my home Sony dvd/cd player (DVP C660) I get a "No CD" message and my CD wont play. I put in other players (boom box types)and they work.

I've used Nero (5.xx), easy cd creator various versions, CloneCD, and Sound Stream. on both windows 98se and windows 2000.

Does anyone knowwhats going on?

If cd-r music disks are not playing in your DVD player but are ok in a boom-box or other device, I'd say your DVD player isn't capable of reading cd-r media.

Some older DVD playeres just will not recognise cd-r discs, yet some old CD players will. Weird, eh?

I am not sure whether or not you can get a firmware update for your DVD player, but as I have found it's often more expensive to upgrade a player than to buy a newer model.

Sony can be very restrictive when it comes to people having fun with their equipment..

Hope this helps. All the best.

General ideas:

--------------------------------------------

"I've had no luck with Memorex or Imation CD-Rs but it can read Acer CD-RWs with no problem - so now I'm happy again..."

LOTS of info.

Ideed it appears this model won't play cd-r. Perhaps Sony is scared that people will be copying their own music collection and wishing to play it on their DVD players, eh? Well it's Sony's loss..people will just go elsewhere.
