Post Step-by-step for burning, installing, and playing MOHAA

First of all, thanks to all of those on this board that have provided the information contained below here and there throughout many threads on this board. I'm so glad I found this place!

Second of all, in order for this procedure to work, you will need a burner that is supported by CloneCD for burning SD2.51.xx with compatible firmware.

Ok, first step is to download and install ClonyXXL and CloneCD and download and unzip the 51pack.

Next, run ClonyXXL. Choose the proper cdrom drive at the top (I’d recommend using your burner as the reader) and, with the first disc in the drive, click on the “scan cd” option to the right. This should tell you that the disc is protected with SafeDisc v2.51 and the needed options should be checked.

Next is to click the “start CloneCD” option. This will launch CloneCD. Choose the “copy CD” option. Choose your drive and click “next.” On the next screen, double click on the ClonyXXL option on the left (_ClonyXXL in my case). On the next screen, choose a location and name for the image and do not check or uncheck anything. Click next. The image will now be created.

After the image is finished, go back to the main CloneCD “menu” and choose the “write from ImageFile” option. On the next screen, locate the image file that you just created. Click “next”. On the next screen, double click the ClonyXXL option in the left window with a blank in the drive. This will start the burn process.

Repeat this procedure for the second disc.

After your discs are burnt, install the game from the burns. Once installation is complete, download and install the latest game update. Now would be a good time to run the AUTO CONFIGURE option from the start menu.

Run the dumper from the 51pack. Choose the MOHAA.exe from your main game directory. This will create a *.data.bin file. Now run 2_51_Rebuilder from the 51 pack. Choose the *.data.bin file that you just created. This will create a sdv2.testme.exe file.

Now you need to rename the original MOHAA.exe to something else. Once done, rename the sdv2.testme.exe file to MOHAA.exe, making sure that it is in the same directory that the original file was installed to. You should now be able to play the game without a cd in the drive.

The 51pack steps can be skipped if you want to play the game from your burner. Just select the “Hide CDR Media” option.

This is not a sure-fire way to make “workable” copies of MOHAA. It worked for me and I imagine that it will work for most if your hardware is compatible with the software. This is not a comprehensive procedure for other problems that you may encounter (detonator driver issues, ASPI problems, etc.). Either search for topics on those subjects, or maybe others will be kind enough to post that info here in order to consolidate the information. I’ve done enough typing for now.

If I've left something out, let me know.

This method will work for everyone regardless of what hardware they have as this process involves using a crack to play the game.

I only recommend the cracking method if your burner cannot copy Safedisk properly - even then there is some hope with Betablocker/AWS.

Question

I know for a fact that I can copy safedisk2.51 Is there anyway I can make a 1:1 copy that I can use without a crack? I don't like cracking games I already own.

By the way: EXCELLENT step by step instructions. Even I could follow those...
